Security comes in different forms. What mode it is in the form of depends on the one who needs it. The presence of guards or any person in military attire gives a feeling of physical security. Home alarm systems give security to the home and the people who live in it. Wireless security is also making its mark on the home, place of business and any establishment for that matter who uses wireless networks.

Basically wireless security prevents unauthorized people from getting access to the network. There has been a rising need for it since wireless networking is common these days. With wireless security, one is able to prevent hackers from breaking into the system. You can basically choose which method works for you. There is the use of usernames and passwords. Users can gain access to the network by simply inputting in the requested username and password information asked. Once the user is able to enter the correct information, he will be able to have internet access. You can also make use of WEP encryption. You can also choose to enable MAC address filtering which basically means building up the physical address or the MAC address of each authorized computer on the Wi-Fi network. You can also choose not to automatically connect to open Wi-Fi networks. We all have been tempted to connect to a neighbor’s router or to a free wireless hotspot. But once you do so you must know that you are exposing yourself and your computer to security risks.
